With the Institute for Economics and Peace, I developed this interactive data map to communicate the results of the Global Terrorism Index, a new measurement of the impact of terrorism in 158 countries.
The map displays ten years’ worth of historical data for four component indicators, plus one overall terrorism index value. The timeline allows play-through of the historical data, while a table displays values for each indicator. By comparing countries and moving through time, it is possible to see how the impact of terrorism has increased or decreased over time.
Developed using D3, the piece works on all current browsers that support SVG (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and IE9), including Mobile WebKit.
